IMMUNISATION IN BABIES: IS IT NECESSARY?



Immunisation is the process by which an individual's immune system becomes fortified against an agent.

The human immune system helps the body to fight and ward off germs by producing substances to combat them. Vaccines help to trigger the immune system of a healthy person to respond to and build immunity.

Immunisation is very essential in babies because it prevents a lot of life threatening diseases. It serves as a protector against diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, polio, tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough etc.

Immunisation protects your babies from illness and serious health harms such as meningitis, pneumonia, paralysis, deafness, seizures, brain damage, or even death. Immunisation prevents the chances of your  children having a disability.

Immunisation does not only protect the child against deadly diseases, but also helps in developing children's immune systems. A lot of diseases that cause infant mortality have been successfully put away through the help of immunisation. Through the use of immunisation, some infections and diseases have almost been eradicated completely throughout the United States and the world. An example of such diseases is polio.

Immunisation is very mportant in babies because it is a sure way of giving them a healthy start in life. It is the most sure way parents can protect their children from serious diseases. The decision to immunise your baby is a crucial one, because there is no effective alternatives to immunisation.

Immunisation slows down or stops disease outbreaks.  Immunisation of individual babies help to protect the the health of our community, especially those children who are not immunised. (Children less than one year that cannot receive the measles vaccine.)

Immunisation in babies now helps to prevent diseases like whooping cough, measles, polio etc which used to lead to death in the past.

Prevention is said to be better than cure, parents should endeavour to properly immunise the wards/babies right from birth throughout their childhood. This would save these children from illness and death caused by infectious diseases.
